Under the hood of this mid-size SUV is the famous 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, available in all variants except the SRT and Trackhawk. Starting with the Trailhawk model and higher, the 5.7-litre HEMI V8 engine with 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque is also available. The SRT boosts performance with the 6.4-litre HEMI SRT V8 engine with 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, while the Trackhawk model offers the supercharged 6.2-litre HEMI V8 engine with 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque.

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee's Pentastar V6 engine will tow up to 6,213 lb (2,818 kg), the 5.7-litre V8 engine will tow up to 7,275 lb (3,300 kg), and the 6.4-litre V8 and supercharged 6.2-litre V8 lower the capacity to 7,198 lb (3,265 kg).
